NVIDIA's new Gaming Powerhouse


During the Game Developers Conference 2015, leading graphics chip processor manufacturing company for desktop and laptop systems NVIDIA unveiled the world’s first 4k Android Console TV, a product that is capable of 4K playback as well as playing AAA gaming titles. The specifications of the Shield 4K micro-console will surely delight gamers.


The SHIELD 4K micro-console runs on the Android gaming platform, meaning that it is able to deliver the expanded repertoire of features present in Google’s Android operating system. The hardware specifications of the console include the powerful NVIDIA Tegra X1 chipset, which is by far the fastest chipset currently in existence, exceeding the capabilities of both Apple’s A8X, Samsung's Exynos 7420 and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810, according to the benchmarking scores posted by AnTuTu .

In addition, the 4K gaming console also provides direct access to NVIDIA’s GRID game-streaming service. The GRID streaming service is able to deliver on-demand “Netflix for games” experience, according to the product information that was detailed at the GDC 2015. CEO of NVIDIA, Jen-Hsun Huang stated the following: “SHIELD will change the way we enjoy digital entertainment at home. It’s an incredibly powerful, efficient, and advanced living room entertainment device. It’s the best Android TV experience. And it can transform into a serious gaming machine. It’s made to game.”
 

Further, the gaming console is also equipped with 3 GB of RAM to provide stable gaming sessions for the user. The device will be available in May, and will carry a starting price tag of $199. The $199 price tag will be bundled with a single gaming controller. Users can also opt to purchase additional accessories for an extra price tag. These accessories will include additional controllers, a remote control, and a stand that will enable the device to stand vertically.
