Update:: 18/05/2015
Qualcomm internals said that the 10-core chipset may not be named the 818, instead an other name will be used as it will be superior to Snapdragon 820, and might also use Qualcomm's own Kyro processor. As we said that it is still in early stages hence specifications of the same may change. As of now the chipset is kind of unnamed.

Recently Mediatek came up with Helio X which is going to be a premium lineup from MediaTek where they will be competing with processors from Qualcomm & Exynos. With the debut of Helio X20 which is the first deca-core processor, Qualcomm and Exynos might have got to think about the number count which Mediatek is rushing with. But now it looks Qualcomm is also working with the same strategy and is running with the same.
Let us clarify that there is no comment from any official sources. We have been tipped about this deca-core processor, allegedly the Snapdragon 818 by an insider from Qualcomm. We have been told that as of now the chipset is just on paper, specs may change.
- 4x Cortex A53 @ 1.2 Ghz
- 2x Cortex A53 @ 1.6 Ghz
- 4x Cortex A72 @ 2.0 Ghz
Which is not exactly what MediaTek goes with. It comes with a with 2 high performance cores at 2.3 Ghz while 4 mid performance cores at 2.0 Ghz which makes the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 818 a bit behind in the numbers, but if we see the history then it would perform better than MediaTek. So let us wait for some official statements from Qualcomm about the chipset.
