OnePlus launches its Game Changer, the DR-1 drone

Today OnePlus finally launched the DR-1 Drone which is going to be a Game Changer according to OnePlus. The DR-1 is an aerial Quad Copter and the design was streamlined to have
  • speed
  • control
  • precision
The OnePlus Drone DR-1 Includes four flexible blades with an advanced 6-axis gyroscopic stabilization system which keeps the drone stable when in sky. The drone has a pretty fast charging and it has QuickCharge technology which allows for a full battery charge in under 20 minutes, so you’ll never be grounded for long.  The drone has a 100mAh battery to keep the drone light hence in a mere 20 mins of charge you can fly for 5 - 6 minutes.

OnePlus one noted on the site
"The DR1’s four independent rotors automatically adjust for wind speeds and atmospheric shifts. AI-controlled multi-directional flips make aerial acrobatic impossibly easy, and our state-of-the-art rotor protection assembly means you’ll never hesitate to push the envelope. Be brave."
The drone comes with a control pad which is quite simple along with advanced power features. The control pad works on a dual-stick system that allows the drone for
  • lift
  • direction
  • speed
  • throttle
  • tilt
  • flight-mode
and even more that will be controlled with extreme responsiveness and ease.  Despite its advanced features and technologies, the DR-1 is surprisingly lightweight and quite easy to carry.

OnePlus goes on to claim that it can fly higher than any drone in the market. At the end of the fantastic product page they've built for the DR-1 they reveal that it is an April Fool's Day prank. Not a prank entirely, since the thing actually exists but is just a toy quad-copter with a controller. Anyway it's a cool OnePlus merchandise to have and you can get one for yourself if you're a OnePlus fan.

The drone is available at their Global website for mere 19.99 $ which falls for just 1200 INR in Indian currency but in India as of now the drone is not available, but OnePlus will be holding a giveaway for the same so you should also take part in it and see if you get lucky.

Moto X 2013 testing on Lollipop in very early stages, says Motorola President

Adding to the frustration of the Moto X 2013 users who have been waiting forever for the Lollipop update, Motorola President and COO, Rick Osterloh said on Twitter during an AMA(Ask Me Anything) that the phone is being tested to Lollipop in several countries, but is in very stages of testing.

We had reported couple of weeks back that the Soak Test for Moto X 1st Gen has started in Brazil. Few days before that, Motorola Engineer Luciano Carvalho had revelead about the Lollipop 5.0.2 test process having begun. But Rick Osterloh's tweet now informs us that the long wait is going to continue further. The tweet received angry comments from Moto X users who said that they are losing faith in Motorola. It is really disheartening that the flagship device is yet to see the update, when its successor and even the Moto G series devices have received the Lollipop update.

Stay with us for news regarding the Lollipop update for Moto X 1st Gen (2013) and other tech news.

Motorola opens its first MotoCare experience centre in India

Motorola India has just tweeted about starting Motorola Experience centres called "MotoCare" in India. The tweet included an image of a MotoCare centre located in Bangalore. This is great news for Motorola customers in India since they will now be getting dedicated service centres for all their after-sales services.

Brands like Nokia and Samsung have since long had their own dedicated service centres in the country and that was an important factor in building brand loyalty. Till now, Motorola was providing service through third-party authorized service centres. Now Motorola seems to have stepped up the game with its own service centres for its customers.

Third-party service centres often cater to many smartphone manufacturers at once, and this helps the companies to keep their expenses low. But these centres are often not able to provide good service, and there have been many reports of inefficient and very slow service to Motorola customers. Now having gathered a huge customer base in the country, Motorola has decided to operate its own service centres for its customers. Motorola's first Centre which was stated earlier opened at Bangalore.

Motorola will allow customers to try its products here hence you can use the device before purchase. This is very helpful as Motorola devices are available exclusively online and there is no way to experience the devices before buying.

There are some pics of the Service centre which emerged with a tweet from Motorola India.

This is certainly a great news for Motorola customers in India, and they can expect excellent service along with good devices from the company. The first MotoCare seems to be operational in Bangalore and we will update you with details about other locations as well, so stay tuned with us.

Recently the Xperia Z4 which will be the upcoming flagship device from Sony appeared on GFXBenchmarks and the benchmarks revealed the specifications inside the phone. • 20 MP rear camera

The model number which the Xperia Z4 is being listed is E6553, as looking over the naming scheme of Sony we can see that Letter changes each year, and for the first device in the year the number starts with 65 and for the second device it starts with 66 as for 2014 it was D, and Sony's first flagship of 2014 the Z2 had the model number D65xx, while the Z3 was D66xx. Hence it looks like that E6553 will be the Model Number for Xperia Z4.

MediaTek Announced High-End Chipset Family to Compete on Qualcomm & Exynos

As we all know that Qualcomm is the largest supplier of mobile chipsets, having its largest rival on the mid-ranged counterpart as MediaTek. MediaTek is trying hard to compete with the Market Topper with minimum distance. The Taiwan-based chip maker is known for its entry level offerings and some of the Mid Ranged offerings, as many representatives of these segments are powered by its chips. Mediatek is not having its reach in the Top-End Segment which Qualcomm has and in order to achieve the same they recently announced its new high-end chipset family that will make the rounds this year - Helio.

Helio consists of two sub-families which are
  • Helio X
  • Helio P
Both the chips family will power flagship phones but as of now we are not having any information about the Helio P. MediaTek has introduced the very first chipset in the Helio X series which is Helio X10, the details of the X10 are as follow
  • 64-bit Capable
  • 8x Cortex-A53 @ 2.2GHz.
  • Display Refresh rate :: 120Hz
  • Slo-mo Recording at 480fps
As of now their is not much info about any other Chipset from Helio X family or Helio P family, we do expect more info soon from MediaTek. We will keep you informed with the info.

iPhone 6C rear cover leaked !! 4-inched phone Confirmed

As we said about Apple launching 3 iPhones this year round as they need a Small sized phone too along with 2 Phablet sized handsets. Apple after launching the iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus got to know that now also people want a small handset, so this time along with the 6S & 6S Plus they will launch a iPhone 6C which will be a 4 inched phone, and hence they will bring back the 4-inched form factor to have a small sized piece for that crowd too. like the iPhone 5C they will use the plastic back shell with metallic chassis for the phone.

Mobile parts manufacturer Future Supplier may have leaked a view of the iPhone 6c's plastic back cover. With the Speaker grill difference instead of a single speaker it offers two speakers and even the LED changes lead the leak to be a Credible Leak.

So we can expect a 4" phone this time again by Apple to entertain the crowd who want a small phone instead of a Large sized one.

  • India

The Taiwanese company finally is reaching out with the OTA to several regions for the two year old handset, which is quite interesting as even Motorola has not yet updated its 2013's flagship the Moto X 2013 who has updated most of its mobiles to Lollipop and earlier then other Manufacturers.

The One (M7) gets the Lollipop OTA packaged in a build version 7.21.707.105 measuring 774.82MB for India. The build will have different version number for each region but will be more or less around 800MB.

Now get higher storage SSD at a low price tag with 3D Nand Tech.

Now Get higer storage SSD at a low Price Tag with 3D Nand Tech.Solid State Drives are known for their blazing speeds compared to traditional hard drives, the only two trade-offs that consumers have to make right now is spending more funds for lesser amounts of storage. Now, it appears that those limitations will be removed in the near future, thanks to a new form of memory technology.

This particular technology will be used in all forms of flash memory products, and the two companies that have made the announcement concerning the technology were Intel and Toshiba.

The two tech firms have stated that they are working on a 3D NAND memory chip that will be stacked onto each other in order to store more data. Unlike single plane chips, which are currently used in current generation solid state drives, 3D NAND will be able to increase speeds as well as the total lifespan of the storage product.

3D Nand

Toshiba has stated that it has created the world’s first 48-layer NAND, yielding a 16 GB chip with boosted speeds and reliability. The Japanese tech company has now created flash memory on the 15 nm process, which happens to be the smallest lithographic process for manufacturing such memory.

While the firm has given manufacturers engineering samples, products sporting the new form of NAND flash memory will not be arriving for at least 12 months or more. Side by side, leading manufacturer of desktop, laptop and server processors, Intel has partnered up with Micron in order to start mass production of 32-layer NAND chips. Both companies are sampling large memory chips in the 32GB variant, with 48 GB ones arriving very soon.

According to Micron, the chips could be used to make gum-stick sized M.2 PCI-E SSDs that could boast storage up to 3.5 TB in storage, while SSDs featuring the 2.5 inch form factor could house 10 TB or more.

Samsung was the first company to introduce 3D NAND form of flash memory in its 850 model SSD, so Toshiba, Intel, and Micron will be taking the fight to the South Korean phone giant, assuming those companies can price their storage products aggressively in order to gain an advantage.

Samsung tablets to feature Iris Recognition technology

Samsung tablets

The South Korean smartphone maker seems to be working on the next iteration of the Galaxy Tab series and the tablets are alleged to feature an Iris Recognition technology. The Stanford Research Institute (SRI) has reportedly struck a licensing deal with Samsung that will allow the company to use the Iris on the Move (IOM) technology in its mobile products.

The first product to feature this technology will be a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 that will have an IOM module on it. The device is reported to be unveiled at SIA New Product Showcase at ISC West 2015 to be held in April at Las Vegas, and will be available for for purchase soon after.

SRI claims that the iris-based recognition is 1000 times more accurate than fingerprint sensors, as per some tests. SRI has also signed a supply agreement to start and production and sales of the IOM products for enterprise and B2B applications.
We have long been hearing rumors about Samsung's flagship smartphones coming with iris scanners. With this IOM technology, that might turn out to be true as early as this year. It will be featured on the Galaxy Note 5 perhaps.

Samsung to acquire AMD ?

Samsung to acquire AMD ?

One of the biggest rumor has hit the tech circles and there is speculation that the South Korean phone giant could be acquiring the processor manufacturing company, Advanced Micro Designs, popularly known as AMD. According to a source, Samsung will be attempting to take over AMD and merge it with one of its subsidiaries in order to secure both the CPU and GPU IP from the firm. In doing so, the tech giant will be able to take on leading desktop, laptop and mobile processor makers, Intel and Qualcomm respectively.

However, before acquiring AMD, the smartphone maker will have to deal with the cross-licensing agreement between Intel and AMD. Intel grants AMD the x86 license while the latter grants Intel the x86 64 bit license. If Samsung does intend on acquiring AMD, it will have to take note of the possible violation of agreement that could take place between the two processor manufacturing firms.

While Intel is currently dominating the desktop, laptop and server markets, the firm is unable to replicated the success when the smartphone industry is concerned. The company is yet to make a prominent dent in that particular market with its Atom branded SoCs, and Samsung’s acquisition will mean that it will be able to concentrate on both the mobile chipset and desktop CPU fronts in order to zip past other prominent players. ATi, a company that was founded 8 years before NVIDIA was acquired by AMD and in the process, gave its graphics IP to the company. If Samsung does manage to acquire AMD, it will mean that the South Korean tech company will have access to 8 years’ worth of patents, which will allow it to take advantage of both Intel and Qualcomm. In order to reduce the leading mobile chipmaker’s market share, Samsung refused to incorporate the company’s Snapdragon 810 SoC and instead placed its own Exynos 7420, thus severing a long-term partnership between the two companies.

Currently, AMD is working on x86 “Zen” CPU microarchitecture, 64 bit ARM “K12″ core and its upcoming “Arctic Islands” graphics architecture, while Samsung’s arsenal includes its cutting edge 14 nm FinFET process.

Samsung acquiring AMD could have huge implications on the smartphone as well as PC industry. Stay with us for more information about this possible deal.
