Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will suffer Low Availability issue.

Samsung S6 Edge is a unique concept device which turned into reality this year in MWC, the phone has a dual curved display which is tough to manufacture in place of the normal glass. Samsung has partnered with Corning for the curved glasses of the S6 Edge. But it seems that Corning is also not able to supply the large demand hence S6 Edge will have low availability issue.

Reportedly, Samsung has earlier planned to ship about 8 million and 8.5 million curved glass units in Q2 2015, now it seems that, low yield will prevent Samsung to ship more than 6.5 million units. Apart from Corning Samsung is also looking for a new manufacturer, to get the Curved screen manufactured.

The dual curved glass of Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is made using 3D thermoforming. The material is heated to 800 degrees Celsius in order to be molded into its unique shape. The finished curved glass component isn’t cheap either. It is said to cost around $25.

It is hardly a surprise that Samsung is trying to increase the curved glass yield for Galaxy S6 edge. Since its introduction, the smartphone has gathered a great deal of attention.
