Samsung seems to be going in house aggressively these days for almost every facet of their smartphones be it hardware or software. Being a global electronics giant, Samsung already manufactures a lot of components for its devices and is also a contract manufacturer for companies like Apple. Samsung already has a smartphone OS of its own called Tizen. This year for the S6, the company also skipped SoCs from Qualcomm in favour of its Exynos.
Samsung had already launched the first Tizen smartphone which is the Samsung Z1, last year in India and other emerging countries. Samsung found decent success with Z1. Continuing with that success, rumors have it that Samsung will launch the Z2 and a Global Tizen model this year. The rumored specs of the two phones are as follows -
- Quad core processor
- 4.5" qHD IPS display
- 1 GB RAM
- 2000 mAh battery
- Tizen 3.0
The Global smartphone is being said to feature the following specs sheet
- 4.8" 720p display
- 2 GB RAM
- 8 MP camera
- 2600 mAh battery
Samsung can find success with the Z2, if it does some marketing and prices it aggressively. The real challenge would be to make the Global variant a success.
