The first public face to Project Ara - Fonkraft

We all are waiting for Project Ara to be live, because we want our phone to be upgradable in terms of not only software, but hardware also. Project Ara is still to come, but a phone named FonKraft will soon be here which will be the world's first modular phone and is crowd-sourced.

It works the same as Project Ara - the components can be fixed on to the main chip/platform on which all the units are to housed, components like
  • CPU
  • battery
  • camera
  • screen
They can be replaced when required, or when a better option is available. As of now not many options are there for you:
  • Fonkraft Pilot:
    • Price: $99
    • Dual-core 1.3 GHz CPU
    • Dual-core GPU
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8GB internal storage
    • 8MP camera
    • 3100 mAh + 1000 mAh battery.
  • Fonkraft Resolution
    • Price: $199
    • 20MP camera module
    • 2.5GHz quad-core processor
    • quad-core GPU
    • 2GB RAM
    • 64GB internal storage
    • 2800 mAh
  • Fonkrat Hifi:
    • Price $199
    • A 192kHz HiFi Sound module made out of wood
    • 8MP shooter
    • 2.5GHz quad-core processor
    • quad-core GPU
    • 2GB RAM
    • 64GB internal storage
    • 2100 mAh battery.
Fonkraft Elements: being priced at $299 is the costliest phone in the series, the phone can be converted to any Pilot, Resolution or maybe Hifi any time as per the users need by just replaceing the modules.

As mentioned earlier, the phone is crowd-funded and hence if it reaches its funding goal, then the device will start shipping in September this year. As we all know that this is the only module of Project Ara available as of now, so do contribute is possible to make this a reality soon!
